I don't know if a day goes by that I am not thankful for my yoga practice. Not that I am necessarily moving my body on yoga positions everyday. Maybe most days. But I know everyday I am benefiting by the topics I have learned through yoga. These are teachings I am getting from places outside of yoga, too. Like at graduation yesterday. Commencement is not an end, but a celebration of the new beginning. I like that. Why suffer from sadness from what you are leaving, when you can refocus your thoughts onto the great things that lie ahead. We reflect on the past as a way move forward with more clarity. I see my own graduate processing these emotions in such a way. Yoga teachings are transferable in that way. We know it for ourselves, we experiment with it in our own lives, and when we demonstrate that for others, they catch it.
We are constantly being asked to move forward in our life. Is there ever a stagnant moment? Things are always growing and changing, and as much as we might want a perfect part of our life to stay the same, it won't. Change is inevitable. How are we allowing those changes to happen? Is it painful, or is it exciting? It is all a matter of perspective. So, rather than wallow in how much I will miss the days of having all my kids at home under one roof, I am choosing to celebrate them and the exciting life that is about to unfold for them. And based on my friends who have gone before, I think we'll have a little of fun at home, too :)
